Silk Road Origins in Germany

Ferdinand Freiherr von Richthofen (1833-1905) was a German geographer, professor, and scientist. He traveled in Asia to, and published in 1877 his most important research “China”, in which he introduced the term “Seidenstraße” (Silk Road). In the sixties, China named a mountain in West China “Richthofen-Gebirge” to honor Ferdinand Freiherr von Richthofen.
