Silk Road Origins in Germany

Ferdinand Freiherr von Richthofen (1833-1905) was a German geographer, professor, and scientist. He traveled in Asia to, and published in 1877 his most important research “China”, in which he introduced the term “Seidenstra├če” (Silk Road). In the sixties, China named a mountain in West China “Richthofen-Gebirge” to honor Ferdinand Freiherr von Richthofen.
